    Why air fry chicken wings?

Using an air fryer means using less oil, but still having the result of a crispy wing like you had deep fried it. It will also take less time then traditional methods. Plus the cleanup is a lot easier with the air fryer.

Can I bake these in a traditional oven?

You can, however, it’ll take a lot longer to get your chicken wings as crispy as an air fryer would. If you opt to use a traditional oven you will need to preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and bake for 50 to 60 minutes or until crispy. Make sure to flip the wings halfway through.

How do you store raw chicken wings?

Place the uncooked chicken on a tray on a low shelf in the refrigerator. This is to avoid having it drip onto other items. Ensure the chicken is in its original packaging and wrap tightly in a plastic bag or wrap. Do not have your raw chicken sitting on any other food or drinks.

    Ingredients

    Air Fryer Chicken Wings Side
    • Chicken wings
    • Olive oil
    • Garlic salt
    • Lemon pepper
    • Mini sweet peppers

    See recipe card for quantities.

    Instructions

    • Prep: Rinse off your chicken wings and then pat dry. Once dry place in a large bowl. Add the olive oil, salt, and pepper to the chicken. Toss to evenly coat.
    • Cook: Place the chicken in the air frying basket. Ensure to space evenly. You will fry at 400 degrees F for 9 minutes per side. Total of 18 minutes cook time or until the wings are golden brown on the outside and crispy.
    • Serve: Wings are best served hot or warm depending on heat sensitivity. Add in the sweet peppers for a pop of color.

What goes well with crispy air fried chicken wings?

Many people like to eat their wings with celery, carrot sticks, and ranch dressing. Others even like blue cheese as their dipping sauce. Some other side dishes to consider are macaroni salad, coleslaw, french fries, truffle fries, and potato salad!

    Variations

Looking to make this recipe even better check out these tips to better suit you and your guests:

    • Spice it up: There are other spices and herbs to use with your wings. There is saw salt & black pepper, dry ranch seasoning, garlic Parmesan, dill, garlic, onion - feel free to experiment if you’d like to replace lemon pepper - or even add to it!
    • Winged out: No wings, but you have thighs? Well you can still air fry them for 20 minutes! Ensure the internal cooking temperature of the chicken is 165 degrees F.
    • Extra extra crispy: Looking to have even more of a crunch - add baking powder to the wings before cooking.

    Storage

Place the cooked wings into an airtight container and place in the refrigerator. Consume within 3 days.

    Top Tip

Don’t crowd the air fryer basket, allow for room around the chicken wing so heat can be balanced when cooking.

    FAQ

Why didn’t my wings get crispy in the air fryer?

Ensure the wings are completely dry before air frying them. Having wet wings will lead to soggy skin. You should pat dry your chicken before cooking to achieve that amazing crispyness.

I’m looking to double the recipe, what should I do?

Air fry for 20 minutes or until crispy, make sure the wings aren’t stacked upon one another and flip the wings half way.

    Internal cooking temperature for chicken?

Poultry’s safe cooking temperature is 165 degrees F.
